Talk:Vigreux condenser

Are we talking about a Vigreux condenser or a Vigreux column?

I guess a Vigreux column can be used as a air condenser, but I'm not sure a Vigreux column is technically a condenser. your comments please? --Quantockgoblin 14:43, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While testing out different condensers for condensing some light tars we used a jacketed Vigreux column. At the lab this was called a Vigreux condenser. It looked much like a Vigreux coloumn with a cooling jacket around. Unfortunately I don't know how widespread it's use is. Maybe someone else would know? --Alf 08:26, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been trying to discover how common this is, and it seems that people generally mean Vigreux column when they say Vigreux condenser. The terminology used at my lab was probably not representative. However I've seen Jacketed Vigreux condenser in use. This would be a more precise term. I suggest moving the article Vigreux condenser to Jacketed Vigreux condenser and making Vigreux condenser a disambiguation page. --Alf 13:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
