08/30/2016- New Maryland standard-issue license plate was announced. I added the basic information that is currently known about the plate (serial numbering has not yet been announced). Image of plate needs to be inserted when it becomes available. -V.D. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.16.17.157 (talk) 22:34, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Vehicle registration plates of Maryland's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "allaboutlicenseplates":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:25, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

None of these other states' pages were correct for Maryland's page. I filled out the subject "orphaned reference" however, so it's no longer orphaned. —ADavidB 12:56, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The orphaned reference in this article was added by 59.101.69.181, who - it pains me to say - was perhaps being a little *too* enthusiastic.
So I rolled back to the last version of the article prior to 59.101.69.181's edits, from November 30, 2017 - before putting the reference back in, such that it wasn't orphaned to begin with.
As for the references named "allaboutlicenseplates" in the articles listed above, I added all of them bar the one in the 1927 article. I named them simply because I used them more than once or expected to do so, with the name itself taken from the address of the site in question. Perhaps I shouldn't have given them all the exact same name - but I just didn't think it would lead to a situation with orphaned references like this one.
Anyway, everything's sorted out now. :) Bluebird207 (talk) 19:10, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
