I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 13:37, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • No DABs, external links good.
  • Images appropriately licensed.
  • Link bellcote
  • upper Medway in spite of its lack of provisioning Perhaps "despite" rather than "in spite of"?
  • Is there anymore info on the sconces, like location, design or armament?
  • I'm fairly certain that the castle is slightly upstream of Chatham Dockyard as it was originally laid out. Is this correct? If so, clarify that the Dutch had to sail past the castle. Any idea how wide the Medway was back then. I'm surprised that a fort of 18 guns wasn't enough to stop the Dutch, but maybe they were too light for the task.
  • Not just light but poorly maintained and probably poorly situated too. If the carriages were rotten (as I expect they were) then they couldn't have fired many shots before falling apart. I've clarified the position of the castle in relation to the raiders. I looked up a 1689 map of the Medway - it appears to be nearly as wide now as it was then.
