This appears to have been simply copied from the U of M disambiguation page, after which a tiny number of additional links were added. No one calls the University of Minnesota "UM". It is very frequently called "the U of M", as is the University of Michigan (and as are more than a dozen others). Michigan does use the "UM" abbreviation. I came to this article after reading about the "University of Minnesota Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database", short UM-BBD. So some people at the university itself use the abbreviation, and therefore this "U of M" should also be mentionned here. Futhermore, I fail to see how this rather minor issue justifies the accurayccy tag on top of the page. Note: I meant to add this comment some days ago (at the time of my edit of the actual page), but somehow it got lost, which I noticed only now. My apologies.--a.bit 10:31, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Michael Hardy. I am a U of M alumnus and employee, and I have never in my life, even once, heard it referred to as "UM". Using acronyms to justify it is just silly - that doesn't mean anyone refers to it as "UM". I will give it a week from now, and if no one has responded, I will delete the University of Minnesota from this list.Dpodoll68 (talk) 17:04, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As no one has voiced any objections, I will now remove the University of Minnesota from the list. To reiterate, no one calls it UM.Dpodoll68 (talk) 21:14, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
