It seems like these are two words for the same thing. Since Wikipedia is based on topics not terms it is correct to treat them in the same article. (t · c) buidhe 01:52, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A "merger" discussion is not the appropriate forum for what you're proposing. You cannot "merge" an article into a redirect, you can only "merge" an article into another article. What you're suggesting here requires a page move discussion advertised to requested moves through the RM process, not a "merger" nomination. I've already submitted a procedural RM request at Talk:Theoconservatism, but this cannot proceed as a "merger" discussion because "merging" is not what's actually on the table.
