Talk:Smedley's Hydro

To assist in possible further development of this article, I have added a Further reading section, in which I listed some possible resources, as well as a quote and citation regarding Smedley's Hydro. If I was developing the article, I'd try to add to the Further reading resources, and then utilise them to expand the article. If I was able to do that, I would of course then rename the 'Further reading' section to 'Bibliography'. But it doesn't become a bibliography until the resources are used, hence the choice of heading.

You may find it a bit premature to start two related articles - this one and the Smedley Hydro. Unless you can adequately expand them both, you may be better off merging this one as one or more sections in the Smedley Hydro article, since (a) that article is currently sparse, (b) it's the same John Smedley, and (c) I presume Smedley's Hydro operated under his umbrella company. But even if it didn't they are ventures by the same fellow, so you may get a better article by merging them. My own approach would be to start out with one article, and keep expanding it. If a section or two then warranted a separate article, the bulk of the work is already done, and it's just a matter of having a synopsis paragraph, with a link to the main article. I had proposed merging most of this article into County Hall, Matlock as we had two articles on the same building. In the absence of any objectives, I have gone ahead and completed the merge. If anybody has any objections please let me know. Dormskirk (talk) 19:02, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
