Hoyer is a registered trademark and a brand name rather than a type of something. I think the article called Hoyer lift should merge with this one. Then that article should be deleted. 70.89.245.137 (talk) 23:01, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The sit to stand lift is used in hospitals and in the home to lift and lower patients and to help them with their walking after surgery. It reduces pain to the surgical area and is used for many operations including C-sections to help prevent post surgery tears to the surgical site. An example of this lift is named Gimme a Lift at gimmealift.com and is very inexpensive. It is unique in that it uses the mechanical advantage of leverage instead of motors, wires and batteries for its power. It is as simple as it is powerful. Take at look at Gimme a lift's site to see a video showing its proven applications.
