Tolkien's Legendarium

The Balrogs of Tolkien's Middle-earth were evil demons of shadow and terror and were ablaze with fire. As spirits of the outer void, they were perverted by the evil One named Melkor; one of the Gods who, at their Maker's bidding, built the world as it is even now. Land, mountains, seas forests and rivers. Above the air and winds, Varda set stars in the void high above Middle-earth. That starlight is not adornment only, but is a sign of the light of the Creator's 'Flame Imperishable.' Balrogs were nearly five metres tall, had large bovine horns and a long thin tail. The wielded a whip of pure flame in each claw. They were utterly evil, demons fuelled by Melkor's hatred. RLC434 (talk) 15:18, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
