Merger proposal

Nowhere near enough info to warrant its own article. Should be merged to the Magnavox Odyssey article to start a section on the Odyssey series of pong consoles. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 18:13, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Magnavox Odyssey along with the 100, 200, etc. editions are PONG MACHINES and are not even worthy of inclusion into the "generation 1" as far as I'm concerned. When interchangeable cartridges were introduced and machines came out with games that were not variations of pong, that's when real game consoles started in my opinion... however, pong machines played a role in the evolution of gaming. They are pre-generation consoles to many people, and I'm one of them. There are flaws all over game console articles. A lot of inconsistency. 76.229.203.39 (talk) 18:25, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
1st generation is the pong console generation, regardless of your opinion. 1st generation refers to dedicated consoles, consoles with self-contained games. Microprocessor based consoles (which is the more proper technological difference, there were "pong" consoles that used removeable carts as well), represent the next generation of technology - hence the 2nd generation. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 18:41, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
