Maybe could add how long the presidents each have to live to get the next step up? Morwen - Talk 09:47, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

When I get a chance I will add footnotes that say "Ford will tie Hoover on Xxxx XX, 20XX" and so on. NoSeptember talk 12:48, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed whoever changed Dec 27 to Jan 1 added 6 days instead of 5, and my own changing Jan 1-> Feb 19 was based on adding 49 to Jan 1's numbers, so it's probably a bit off. I didn't want to trace through the whole history and see if they were compensating for the one before THEM who might have been off by one or something, so I'm just pointing that out for whoever might want to check it. --Atari2600tim (talkcontribs) 12:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about counting Grover Cleveland twice? The retirement from being the 22nd President would be 8 years longer than the retirement from being the 24th President. -- User:Alanmjohnson

How are lengths in years rounded? Ford did not quite live 30 years after leaving office. Ralphmerridew 16:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's keep the updating to once a month, say at the beginning of each month. —Markles 19:44, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Except if one dies.

Or when a living one moves up. Ralphmerridew 16:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal for saving these lists

After the recent deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of United States Presidents by longevity in which a similar list to this barely survived I thought maybe it'd be good to take some preemptive steps to save these lists. One of the things raised in the discussion was that there were just too many lists and that users supported certain lists, but not others. I just spent some time learning how to use sortable lists and I came up with this: User:JayHenry/president. It's not completely finished yet, but I'm ready to see what people think -- it combines all of the information from List of United States Presidents by longevity, List of United States presidents by age at ascension to office, List of United States Presidents by time as former president, it also includes dates of birth and death, although it would not be a good replacement for those lists, as they contain other information (place, cause, etc.). The list is fully sortable! So what do people think? If we implement this list I'm pretty sure we can prevent president lists from showing up at WP:AFD. With some help, this could possibly even be a featured list! --JayHenry 21:39, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
