There is a list of cosmetic companies at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cosmetics_companies_of_the_United_States that link to cosmetic companies on Wikipedia. Julie Hewett Los Angeles is also a cosmetics company in the US as shown by the website link at the bottom and the page. References are also included to show how the company started.

Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (your reason here) --RuaD1 (talk) 22:58, 22 March 2016 (UTC) I just noticed the claim of promotion. I used no promotional language that I can read in the article. If you would like to point out what is seen as promotional, I am glad to check it out and change it if I see your point. There are other US cosmetic companies listed as well on Wikipedia. here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cosmetics_companies_of_the_United_States. I don't see how the listing of Julie Hewett Los Angeles is different.[reply]

  • @RuaD1: @Logical Fuzz: @HappyValleyEditor: RuaD1, the problem was that it was just promotional enough to be problematic. Terms like "inspired by" are kind of tricky since they can very easily be seen as promotional. The article was also only sourced with a self-published blog source. SPS are rarely usable as a reliable source on Wikipedia because they undergo little to no editorial oversight. I also have to warn you about WP:OWNERSHIP, as your post makes it seem like you'd only accept changes that you personally approve. Wikipedia is the encyclopedia anyone can edit and restricting edits to only ones you approve goes against its general guidelines. Now as far as the other cosmetic companies go, the problem with saying WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is that not all cosmetic companies are notable. Some of them, like Maybelline are obviously notable, whereas others never gain the type and amount of coverage necessary to establish notability. As such, I've redirected this to Hewett's article since I don't see where it's independently notable of the artist. On a side note, I also re-wrote the article for Hewett to be more in line with the WP:NPOV and WP:MOS for Wikipedia. I had to remove the blog source and the IMDb link, as SPS can't be seen as a RS on Wikipedia (as stated above) and IMDb isn't seen as a reliable source either because it's so easily edited and changed. (We actually had a fairly recent incident where someone created a profile with a whole slew of fake TV shows and films, which IMDb never detected.) What you'll need to find for sourcing will be things like newspaper articles on her or her work that would pass muster at WP:RS/N. Be careful of awards, as nominations cannot establish notability for a person - only wins count towards notability on Wikipedia, unfortunately. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:09, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
