According to page 11 of this talk by Richard Stanley, "Riordan (1948): introduced the term “Catalan number” in Math Reviews": http://www-math.mit.edu/~rstan/transparencies/catalan.pdf

I don't know how to verify this, but this fact is also missing from the page on Catalan numbers.
