Hi; Thank you for your comment. Jeff Just is notable for being the founder and key driver of negotiations to build WiFi for the New York subway, through his company Transit Wireless. His notability stems from what he accomplished though his company, and I’m not sure I understand the above mentioned question or the utility of stating that his notability must be unrelated to the company he founded, which technologically advanced one of the largest cities on earth and our nation’s financial epicenter. Please clarify, because several of the notable business figures we’ve come across on wikipedia are notable due to their business accomplishments. Thank You. @ForHumanityIAm: Notability is not assessed directly but by whether other sources have chosen to publish in-depth information about the subject. My request was for you to identify the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. You have included 29 sources. I'm just looking for help focusing on the most WP:RELIABLE sources with in-depth coverage.
Transit Wireless has implemented a distributed antenna system (DAS) across 277 of New York City's substations, solidifying a 27-year partnership with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The company successfully competed against major U.S. carriers, such as Cingular Wireless, Sprint Nextel, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile, to secure the contract. Transit Wireless was entrusted with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the network.
The ambitious $200 million project, as highlighted by the New York Times, was labeled as having the potential to revolutionize New Yorkers' commuting routines. Acting as the pivotal point of contact for the request for proposal (RFP), Just played a pivotal role in securing the award and negotiating the terms of the agreement with the MTA.
Popular Mechanics Magazine hailed the project as a "modern-day miracle", recognizing the technical trials it faced, including simultaneous construction and train traffic, extreme subterranean temperatures, exposure to pressurized water during routine subway cleaning, and the initial absence of communication systems for workers.
Despite the intricate construction challenges, by 2016, Transit Wireless had installed 4,000 cellular antennas and 5,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, leading to 120 million Wi-Fi log-ins and 280 million cellular calls in 2017 alone. By 2018, the network averaged 400,000 Wi-Fi log-ins each weekday.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo publicly praised the Transit Wireless network for augmenting public safety and security for the subway's 8 million daily riders, emphasizing the criticality of seamless communication for both passengers and first responders during emergencies.
The completion of the project incurred no costs for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and is anticipated to generate approximately $46 million in revenue over the ten-year period, with service providers remunerating for network usage. Furthermore, the subway's 2.5 billion yearly passengers benefit from complimentary Wi-Fi access.
I am enthusiastic about volunteering and dedicated to delivering exceptional performance. I am fully committed to contributing my utmost effort in order to excel in my role. Thank you. ForHumanityIAm (talk) 12:06, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
