"Hockey Mom" vs. "Soccer Mom"

A Hockey Mom is not the same as a Soccer Mom. Although both are involved in their children's sports, a Soccer Mom is very passive in her support, i.e. her child/children are there to have fun; all games should be tied; etc.

A Hockey Mom, on the other hand, is very feisty, i.e. chanting, animated, banging on the glass, etc., and her child is there to win. Both terms are often used outside of their respective sports to describe a person's behaviour.
