I sense that "goyal" is also a term that describes a land formation, perhaps like a "ravine" or something to the sort. I was reading The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Author Conan Doyal, and "goyal" is mentioned in that manner. Alpinebixby (talk) 03:24, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree with the proposal to merge Goel (India) with this article. I am unsure of the direction for the merge because I do not know which is the more common spelling of this transliterated name. While doing the merge, we need to validate the people listed in the notables section, most of which would appear to be violations of WP:BLP - see User:Sitush/Common#Castelists. - Sitush (talk) 13:04, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
- Although we need reference for that, but from personal experience Goyal is more common. At least in Punjab and Haryana--Vigyani (talk) 14:13, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
- Merge - any different versions and spelling can be dealt with by re-directs and explanatory text in the article. Velella Velella Talk 10:51, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Goel (India) and Goyal should be merged because meaning of both is same and a person using Goyal as surname can also write Goel insted of Goyal and vice versa. Ujjwal Goel —Preceding undated comment added 10:03, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Merged I have made the merge, per the above comments. The two articles were as near as dammit word-for-word identical, although categories differed. However, unless some sources turn up soon this is going to end up being a list of notable Goyals. - Sitush (talk) 16:18, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
