Adamant Armor

I wrote a bit about the Adamant Armor of Final Fantasy IV. As far as I know, it's the best armor, but if something has replaced it due to the extra dungeons in the Game Boy Advance version, go ahead and fix that. I haven't completed the extra bits yet. This information is mostly based on the PlayStation and SNES versions.

New article

The Armor article is now up. I created this article because of a post that came up in the List of Final Fantasy weapons talk. It was about the Genji Armor being put in the weapons category. Thus why this article was started. So far, I have decided to orginize it based on each Final Fantasy Game. I did expect that because the armor will be categorized by each game that it will indeed be very large, but I find this more organized that from previous articles I have viewed. The articles are set up according to each game and sub sections can be created if need. This is due to games like Final Fantasy 4 and 10. I my self am only working on the Final Fantasy X section for now. I'll move on to some other games soon. My only problem is that I have not played Final Fantasy 3, 5, 6, 9, or 11. I'm still currently looking for those games unused or undamaged. So this is where everyone else will come it. Hopefully this article will become more developed overtime.

Final Fantasy X Armor Complete

I have finished typing out the list of armor for all the characters in Final Fanatasy X. I will now start on X-2. I noticed a few errors upoun completing the sectiosn so I made some revisions. True Sephiroth 12:48, 26 Feb 2006 (UTC)

More Sections complete

I just completed Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, and Final Fantasy IV today. I'll be starting on VII and probably finishing up X-2 by later today. If anyone notices errors or feels that something needs to be changed please feel free to edit those sections already done. True Sephiroth 14:14, 26 Feb 2006 (UTC)

The lists need to be removed

The lists need to be removed from this page or it could be subject to deletion. WP:NOT a GameFaqs or a collection of information. We should only talk about things we have some sourced information to go with. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 00:18, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For example, look at List of Final Fantasy weapons. Not every weapon from every game is listed. Just the really important and notable weapons are included. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 00:42, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and I've added a cleanup tag to the article. – Seancdaug 01:46, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Armor to be included

Now, JiFish and Seancdaug have talked about only putting the reoccuring or notable armor on the list... but before we clean it up, we should try and figure out what should be on the list...

Some suggestions from me are:

The Genji Set - Often the strongest armor set, and very common.

The Mythril Set - Mythril is also common, and it is part of the storyline in FFII.

Maximillian - An armor that is appearing more and more often.

Adamant Armor - Mainly for its noteworthiness in FFIV.

Hero's Shield/Paladin Shield - Much like the Lightbringer for swords, this is making a comeback as the best Shield. Plus, like Lightbringer, it has some interesting ways as to acquire it.

Ribbon - In nearly every game, either as headgear or an accessory, often, the most useful headgear, and has the immunity to all status ailments.

Gold Hairpin - Like Ribbon, only it often (but not always) halves the MP Cost of the equipped character.

I'm pretty sure there are some others I'm forgetting at the moment... - 72.1.206.14

Hm, if nobody has anyobjections, I will start changing it in a bit... 24.42.246.206 22:45, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead, be bold! --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 12:31, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks! I wasn't sure for a while... I've done this before, though (I was the one who added Holy Lance, Blood Sword, Save the Queen, and Lightbringer to the FF Weapons page)... maybe I should get a Wikipedia login if I keep on doing this. Anyways, I'll do it when I have the time, which should be in a day or two from now. 24.42.246.206 15:33, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to rewrite this

Here's my suggestion on going about this. I will start writing the new article above the old article, then delete the old lists. Crazyswordsman 22:55, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I started reworking various sections. I got rid of the overblown lists and put in some important information, as well as some armor and relics I feel are notable. Feel free to edit those you think are important in. Crazyswordsman 23:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you feel we should include sidenotes or separate sections for those games which are exceptions to the general trend (FFVII, FFVIII, etc.)? Finduilas09 03:08, 24 April 2006

Removed lists

I removed the bulky and encyclopedic lists from the page. It may be a little easier to edit now. If anyone needs them, they are still available at wikia:finalfantasy:List of Final Fantasy armor. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 23:50, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Accessories?

There are lots of accessories listed along with the armor on this page. Sometimes, it's hard to tell what's an accessory and what's armor (Ribbon, for example, is sometimes a helmet and sometimes an accessory) but the Economizer and Gem Box from FF6j are listed on this page, and they're never armor. Unless somebody can tell me why not to, I'm going to remove all the accessories from this page within a day or two. MrCheshire 20:07, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, problematic. Having a separate page for accessories is somewhat crufty and as you said sometimes the two overlap. How about renaming this page to List of Final Fantasy armor and accessories? --JiFish(Talk/Contrib)
Right, that's certainly an option. Can some other folks from the FFWikiProject weigh in, here? MrCheshire 03:29, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. Finduilas 09 03:55, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've been bold and done it. It can always be moved back. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 23:27, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) I started to try and BE BOLD, but then I realized I wasn't sure how to go about changing an article's name like that. MrCheshire 22:16, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prosify

This can easily be prosified per Final Fantasy magic and Final Fantasy items (which I just completed, how does it look?). If there's no objections, I can spend an hour or so working on prose compression. — Deckiller 18:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That'd be fine, I'd say. As long as the most notable stuff stays...24.42.246.206 18:45, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Basically, the idea is that each group of armor gets its own paragraph; some of the names may not be included, but the ideas will still be there (this prevents users from including the name of every piece of equipment, but keeps the general description intact and in a manner that flows well). — Deckiller 19:23, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's good... say, I don't think there's any direct link to this page from the main page... once it's done, shouldn't this be part of that infobox with the links to all the Final Fantasy series pages?24.42.246.206 22:26, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. — Deckiller 22:34, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article subheadings

Most of the specific armors mentioned on this page do not, in my opinion, need their own paragraph and bolded subheading. We could probably condense the few armors of note for each game into one paragraph or bulleted list per title, with the name of each armor perhaps bolded to make it stand out. Either way, the mini-paragraphs of one or two sentences should definitely go. What do you guys think?

If it helps, I figure it would look something like this:

Relics are items that can be equipped to each party member independently of any armors or other accessories already in use. They typically confer special abilities or statuses on the user or the whole party. Particularly useful relics include:

  • Dragoon Boots, which turn the user's "Fight" battle command into "Jump". This new command does extra damage if used by a party member wielding a lance, making the Dragoon Boots ideally suited to Edgar Figaro and Mog.
  • Economizer, which reduced MP cost to 1 for all spells cast (including the Lores used by Strago).
  • etc.

Finduilas 09

If no one has any objections, I may start changing a few of the sections to fit this format. Finduilas 09

==One Suggested Change The Minerva might be moved to the list of recurring armor and weapons, because it reappears in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
