I encourage interested editors to update this page with the trove of information that can be found in the obituary of Stokes published by the British Academy: Proceedings of the British Academy: Volume 101: 1998 Lectures and Memoirs. Stokes had a long career and did significant research in Africa as well as Australia, both of which are not mentioned in this article. He also trained several scholars including Eric Brown and C.R. Whitaker. Africologist (talk) 00:32, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
