England and the United Kingdom are not synonymous, so any merger of these article would also require a separate section for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and (arguably) The Channel Islands.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sambailey (talkcontribs) .

Yes but this article starts with "The first national census of the British population was organised in 1801", and since the UK already existed then, unless there is actually a lot of info for each of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and anything else, might as well just do the UK as a whole. Support merge because this essay is only an overview and a history, but nothign useful in the way of current stats.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.77.98.166 (talkcontribs) .
Current stats can be found in Demographics of England. This article should remain separate from Demographics of the United Kingdom for the reasons stated above (UK civic and population statistics are conducted separately), and because it focuses on the history of population statistics, and does not really discuss demographics. It should probably be renamed though, and probably even merged with Population of England. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:25, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This could work as a history section for Demographics of the United Kingdom. Any takers? -- Thesocialistesq/M.Lesocialiste 05:47, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge it with Demographics of England. --sony-youthtalk 11:25, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
