Wasn't Elgin named after Lord Elgin? Thanks Sirtrebuchet 05:29, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but not the one famous for stealing, um... "acquiring" the Elgin Marbles, now in the British Museum.
The Town of Elgin(Quebec) was named after James Bruce, the EIGHTH Lord Elgin, Governor-General of Canada, who was the son of the above purveyor of Greek antiquities.
