@Liz: and anyone else interested: In a recent edit, I retargeted this article to Electric transmission (propulsion) (a newly created article). This was because, although diesel-electric transmission is the most popular type of electric transmission used on rail vehicles, various types of transmission such as Petrol-electric transmission^{(uses in rail transport)} and Turbine-electric transmission^{(uses in rail transport)} have been used in rail transport, not only Diesel-electric transmission^{(uses in rail transport)}.
