Diatonic and chromatic

The article uses the term diatonic without adequate explanation. This term, along with chromatic, is the cause of serious uncertainties at several Wikipedia articles, and in the broader literature. (Specifically, here, an unsourced and disputed etymology for diatonic is appealed to.) Some of us thought that both terms needed special coverage, so we started up a new article: Diatonic and chromatic. Why not have a look, and join the discussion? Be ready to have comfortable assumptions challenged! – Noetica♬♩Talk 13:30, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Additional citations

Why and where does this article need additional citations for verification? What references does it need and how should they be added? Hyacinth (talk) 05:26, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ptolemy and Archytas are entirely uncited, as is the allegation of similarity to Arabic music. Published editions of Ptolemy and Archytas (or a reliable secondary source quoting them) that may be consulted in a library or online should be cited, and a similar, published reliable source verifying the similarity to Arabic music shuld be cited.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 05:50, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
