D23 (Disney)D23 — There are only two items on the disambiguation page that are actually called "D23" -- that is, only two candidates to actually take the base page name without disambiguation. The other is a state road in Croatia, so this, the Disney organization, seems to clearly be the primary topic and so should take the base name. Powers T 02:00, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - I just did a few spot checks. D1, D9, D14 and D20 are all disambiguation pages. It seems to me that most single-letter-then-a-number acronyms are (and should be) dab pages, unless there is a very well known organisation which takes the name space (in fact I can't even think of one example offhand). I suggest that this Disney club, launched in 2009, is nowhere near significant enough to "own" the D23 namespace. (A few minutes later) OK, I thought of one example: U2. Needless to say, the Disney club isn't in the same class. Adpete (talk) 03:58, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. It's far from clear to me how it's 'obvious' that the club is the primary topic over the road. The way the proposal reads suggests that there is some unintentional US bias going on, as it seems to suggest that a US club must be more important that a state road in some other country. D roads in Crotia seem to be the second level of classification in Croatia so similar to A-roads in the UK and US highways in the US, hence it's far from a minor road (and in no way equivalent to most state roads in the US). D23 also seems a likely search term for the many ships included in the disambiguation page and taken together I think it's clear there's no primary topic. Dpmuk (talk) 16:47, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's U.S.-bias... The road in Croatia is shorter than all but a tiny fraction of U.S. Highways; and Croatia is not an English-speaking area, so its roads and highways are much less likely to be sought by English-speakers than an American organization is. It's important to note that for article content, we should avoid any bias based on geography, but our criteria for article titling are different. Powers T 18:47, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did say "the way it reads" and I'm glad you've now clarified your reasoning to make it clear that wasn't the case. I still think you're argument is a little bit simplistic as, for example, UK users (which is English speaking) are quite likely to search for the road in Croatia which they may well have driven on and less likely to search for a US club they've probably not heard off. That said I don't think that's a significant issue in this case (if it was a motorway in France I'd be much more concerned). That said the presence of the ships still makes me think there's no primary usage. Dpmuk (talk) 10:12, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose there are many things on the Dab page that can be properly called "D23" alone, especially all the ships. 76.66.200.95 (talk) 05:35, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
