Location of Ipswich within the Greater Brisbane region

There has been some recent debate over whether Ipswich should be described as being located within Brisbane or within the Greater Brisbane region, which is defined as a Greater Capital City Statistical Area by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). I do not believe it is correct to say that Ipswich is located within Brisbane proper, as the generic term ‘Brisbane’ can refer to either the City of Brisbane (a local government area) or Greater Brisbane as a metropolitan region, which is generally taken to include the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast, Redland City and Moreton Bay. I believe it is more correct to say that Ipswich is located within Greater Brisbane, which is supported by official sources such as the ABS and the Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA). Thus, I do not believe the assertion that Greater Brisbane is a region constitutes original research. However, I would be open to hearing alternative views on the matter. Furthermore, as an aside, I do not believe it is helpful when other users revert an entire page to its previous version simply because they take issue with a single edit. I do not use Wikipedia frequently, so I am not around all the rules and conventions of etiquette, but such actions just seem inflammatory and destructive. Self-correction: Greater Brisbane includes the City of Logan, and not the Gold Coast. StellaAquila (talk) 10:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
