Move of "Balustrades" to "Balustrade" - how?

As discussed on the talk page, the article Balustrades should be moved to Balustrade, as there is no reason for the plural title.

However, a simple page move is not possible, because Balustrade already exists as a redirect. What ist the best approach here? I added the "Proposed deletion" template to this page to have it deleted, but that was reverted. What is the best way to proceed? Sebastian (talk) 20:18, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It may be worth asking on the help desk, but my instinct as a newish editor is to suggest just copying the source code from the current Balustrades page to the current Balustrade redirect. In the edit summary, you should make clear that the page history of the article is preserved in Balustrades.
Nonetheless, I am quite concerned that the current Balustrades article is not up to an encyclopedic standard and may not survive a community review against a merge. Preferably, the present concerns would be addressed before a move. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 22:56, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sleske: see Wikipedia:Moving a page#Moves where the target name has an existing page. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 14:20, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll look into this. BTW, the potential move is also discussed on User talk:GB fan/Archive 15, under 'Deletion of "Balustrade"'. Sebastian (talk) 08:30, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
