Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Journal of Sex Education and Therapy (currently a redirect to American Journal of Sexuality Education) → American Journal of Sexuality Education (move · discuss) – changed it's name: https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/wzjs20 2A00:F41:70B6:B549:FFFF:9323:59C8:AF51 (talk) 15:08, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- That article has been one sentence long for 15 years, and per WP:EXIST and WP:SPEAKSELF it might be a candidate for deletion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:29, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Theatre World Award → Theatre World Awards (currently a redirect back to Theatre World Award) (move · discuss) – keeping naming convention with other awards ceremony articles — Paper Luigi T • C 05:37, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- I believe the plural awards apply via WP:PLURAL as distinct entities considered together when there are multiple categories to the awards. This particular award seems to be a single award given to multiple honorees in a given year, so singular might be better. (Most awards actually resided at the WP:SINGULAR until a couple years ago, and were moved with a formal RM.) -2pou (talk) 23:11, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- List of engagements during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war (currently a redirect to List of military engagements during the Israel–Hamas war) → List of engagements during the Israel–Hamas war (currently a redirect instead to List of military engagements during the Israel–Hamas war) (move · discuss) – Event continued into 2024, so removing “2023” is needed. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 22:00, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not uncontroversial. An RM is currently already open for the name of the article about the war, and the subject matter has been officially identified as contentious (and the requester has a history of disputed editing). — BarrelProof (talk) 04:10, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Chief technology officer → Chief technical officer (currently a redirect back to Chief technology officer) (move · discuss) – more companies use "chief technical officer" and most people are more familiar with that term. Mechanical Keyboarder (talk) 09:50, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Mechanical Keyboarder: there was a RM in 2010 which resulted in the existing setup, Talk:Chief_technology_officer/Archives/2011#Move?, making this request a potentially controversial one. Do open a full discussion instead. Thank you. – robertsky (talk) 11:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Class A (baseball) (currently a redirect to Single-A) → Single-A (move · discuss) – This is the name used since 2022. See [1] 162 etc. (talk) 04:47, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @162 etc.: Given there was a series of moves and reversions in 2021 (though not to this name), I would tend to think this would be potentially controversial and need an RM. E.g., Oknazevad said in 2021 that "Class A" was the most common name in sources (when reverting a move to apparently then-official Class Low-A). Also, this edit to the article was not a minor edit. - @Oknazevad: Based on the cited source linked above, do you believe this to be a potentially controversial move? 162 etc. (talk) 06:24, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- It's a bit questionable, because the article is about the entire history of the classification (which used to be the highest class) not just the current version (where it's the lowest). I think it's six of one half a dozen of the other so long as redirects exist. (And redirects are WP:NOTBROKEN, after all).
- But that's just my personal opinion, and considering the history, I do think an RM is needed. oknazevad (talk) 09:15, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

- Lajonkairia lajonkairii → Ruditapes philippinarum (move · discuss) – These aren't actually synonyms, and almost all the info in the page refers to Ruditapes (the Manila clam). Zilchlucre (talk) 19:09, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Zilchlucre: This would be reverting a move from 23 months ago, which is generally considered long enough to be a "stable title" that shouldn't be reverted without a discussion. If you would like to continue with this move, you can open a requested-move discussion by clicking "discuss" on your request. SilverLocust 💬 19:24, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
