Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Fiebre (Ricky Martin song) (currently a redirect to Fiebre (song)) → Fiebre (song) (move · discuss) – The only article for a song with this title, per WP:SONGDAB. Tree Critter (talk) 15:40, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Ivan Olshansky → Jonas Alšėniškis (currently a redirect back to Ivan Olshansky) (move · discuss) – There should be a Lithuanian name for this article about a Lithuanian noble. The name "Ivan Olshansky" (supposedly Slavic) is not used by any of the Slavic wikipedias (Russian wiki - Иван Ольгимундович Гольшанский (Ivan Olgimundovich Golshansky); Polish wiki - Iwan Olgimuntowic Holszański ; Belarusian wiki - Іван Альгімонтавіч Гальшанскі (Ivan Algimontovich Halshansky) Cukrakalnis (talk) 18:33, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

- Pangi valley, Himachal Pradesh (currently a redirect to Pangi Valley) → Pangi valley (currently a redirect instead to Pangi Valley) (move · discuss) – No need of disambiguation of the state name Himachal Pradesh. Now Killar which is headquarters of Pangi valley/subdistrict has a separate article. Disambiguation page Pangi is pointing out to this page already. Crashed greek (talk) 11:06, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Administrator needed
- Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (see this guide to which moves need administrators). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover's permissions.
Contested technical requests
- Fixed point (mathematics) → Fixed point (move · discuss) – This requires to move first Fixed point to Fixed point (disambiguation). The reason, already discussed at talk:Fixed point (mathematics), is that all non-mathematical items listed in the dab page are far to be a primary topic D.Lazard (talk) 10:25, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- This needs discussion, since if there is a primary meaning, it may be Fixed-point arithmetic. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:42, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- As arithmetic is a part of mathematics, the problem exists already with the current title: the disambiguating parenthesis in Fixed point (mathematics) means that this article is a main topic in mathematics. Moreover Fixed-point arithmetic is not about any sort of fixed points; it is about a specific arithmetic. So Fixed-point arithmetic cannot be a primary meaning for "fixed point". D.Lazard (talk) 22:26, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not following that explanation. I agree that the current title of Fixed point (mathematics) might have a problem, but that doesn't mean that these proposed moves are appropriate. You seem to acknowledge that Fixed-point arithmetic discusses a different topic than Fixed point (mathematics), but I fail to see how that leads to a conclusion that "fixed point" primarily refers to Fixed point (mathematics). I continue to think this is not an obviously unquestionable move request. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:59, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
