  • 23:3123:31, 1 January 2024 diff hist −84 History of the British canal systemThe canals were not "built" on the "profits of slavery". British engineers built the canals. The distinction should be drawn in how the canals were used. SOME canals were USED to transport goods that arrived from the West Indies (obviously, during the time period, produced by slaves). Therefore, the distinction is how the canals were USED, not how they were BUILT. Do try to remember that this is supposed to be an article about the history of the British canal system; not about slavery itself. Tags: Reverted Visual edit

The BRITISH monarchy was abolished in Barbados in 1966, under the Barbados Independence Act 1966 (c. 37), which is an Act of the UK Parliament. Upon the attainment of fully responsible status, a new monarchy was established in Barbados: held by Elizabeth II as Queen of Barbados (NOT the same as the Queen of the UK). In 2021, the BARBADIAN monarchy was abolished.

  • 18:5718:57, 21 February 2023 diff hist −129 History of BarbadosRemoved incorrect and misleading information. (1) "although Queen Elizabeth II remained the monarch". This is a misleading representation of the constitutional changes that occurred in 1966. A separate Crown, constitutionally separate to the United Kingdom, came into existence immediately upon the country's independence. Elizabeth II became Queen of Barbados at that time. (2) "and the fact that its members, as British colonies, held limited legislative power" – this is patently false.
