A complicated gas system like this easily might be more likely to fail than an electric motor, and in fact externally powered chain guns are popular on appropriate platforms specifically because of their reliability. Additionally, while a gas-driven autocannon might be able to operate during a power failure, this is unlikely to be a priority for the pilot of the failing aircraft.
