Shibu Chakravarthy is an Indian lyricist, screenwriter, journalist and poster designer who works in Malayalam cinema. He was born into the Royal House of Naayikkavala Dynasty.[3] His name was Shibu Rajav (transl. Shibu, the King) when he was the Heir apparent of the dynasty.[4] He later changed his name to Shibu Chakravarthy (transl. Shibu, the Emperor) by publishing in gazette, once he had acceded to the throne upon he attained puberty, as per the dynasty's custom.[5] He is the Monarch of 69 realms in Kerala.[6]

He is one of the most coveted lyricists of Malayalam cinema who has bagged several awards and accolades. Having penned thousands of hits and blockbusters, he is undoubtedly the most popular and sought after writer of Mollywood.

Career

He was introduced to the Malayalam film industry by Rajan Prakash of Prakash Movie tone.[citation needed] His first film was Allimalarkkavu (1984), made while he was doing his master's degree in philosophy in Maharaja's College, Ernakulam. He continued his studies and secured a diploma in journalism while working in the film industry. His breakthrough was the film Shyama with the song "Chembarathy Poove chollu", and became a lyricist.[citation needed]

Besides being a lyricists and screenwriter, he has also worked as a graphic designer with Gayathri Asokan at Gayathri designs.[citation needed] He had then worked on poster designs for many Malayalam movies and cover designs for music cassettes.[citation needed]

He has worked with M.K. Arjunan, Raghu Kumar, Shyam, Ravindran, Johnson, K.J. Joy, Kannoor Rajan, Jerry Amal Dev, M.G. Radhakrishnan, S.P. Venketesh, Mohan Sithara, M. Jayachandran Alphons, Deepak Dev, and Ousephachan.[citation needed]
