Process Systems Design and Control Laboratory (PSDC) was founded at Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan, South Korea, in 1994 to carry out research associated with the process design and process control area.^[1] Moonyong Lee is the adviser of this laboratory. It employs 19 members, including Postdoctoral, Ph.D., Masters, and Undergraduate students.

The mission of the PSDC laboratory is to conduct research and education in the field of process systems engineering and to develop industry partnerships to address significant issues in process systems.

Over the past few decades, the PSDC laboratory has focused on technological and economic advancements. It has worked towards improving the design and operation of chemical processes and production facilities. The laboratory has transitioned from conventional process systems to modern and next-generation plants, incorporating state-of-the-art clean technologies for environmental safety. This includes the utilization of recycle streams and energy recovery networks to enhance the efficient use of natural resources.

Since 1994, the PSDC laboratory has carried out extensive research in the field of Process Design and Control. The focus has been on advanced control systems and modern control techniques. Many research activities are oriented towards industrial projects, leveraging the unique features of the laboratory. This focus on industrial collaboration provides graduate students with valuable industrial experience and enhances their capabilities as process engineers.
