Phir Ussi Mod Par (English: "Back to Square One") is a Hindi film directed by Lekh Tandon.[1][2]

The film tackles the contemporary and highly debated topical subject of “Triple Talaq,” a tradition in Islam when a husband pronounces three repudiations at once rather than divorcing his wife once. This practice remains a frequent topic in social and media discussions, generating ongoing public debate. The film delves into this controversial subject, highlighting the futility and negative consequences of the prevalent practice of Triple Talaq, it juxtaposes social and religious perspectives on the tradition against modern societal norms, illustrating how the practice of "Triple Talaq" is often misinterpreted and manipulated for personal gain, overshadowing its intended ethical and religious context.

"Phir Ussi Mod Par" premiered at the Berlin Film Festival 2018[3] to a full audience and received a positive response. It was produced by Trinetra, Kanika, and Anshula Bajpai under their banner, Kanika Multiscope (KMPL).

Plot

In the film, Naaz, played by Jividha Sharma, is pregnant when she receives triple talaq from her husband, Shaheed, portrayed by Parmeet Sethi. This leads her to attempt suicide. She is rescued by Rasheed, played by Kanwaljeet Singh, who, according to the Holy Quran, is a righteous man. He marries her and offers her a fresh start. Later in life, when Naaz encounters another triple talaq situation, she decides to confront it directly rather than accept it passively.
