Naheed Ezaher Khan (born 30 August 1972)[1] is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent State Minister of Cultural Affairs since March 2024.[2] She is a Jatiya Sangsad member on a women's reserved seat.[3]
She was the daughter of Khondkar Nazmul Huda, killed in the coup d'état in November 1975.[4]
Career
Khan was elected to parliament on a seat reserved for women as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate in February 2019.[5] She is a member of the parliamentary caucus on child rights.[6]
In May 2023, Khan filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in Dhaka in connection with the killing of her father, Colonel Khondkar Nazmul Huda, killed 47 years earlier in the coup d'état in November 1975.[4] He was serving as the 72 Special Commander of the Bangladesh Army in Rangpur.[7] The case accused Major Mohammad Abdul Jalil of the then 10th East Bengal Regiment and 20-25 others.[4] The case also mentioned the then Chief of Army Staff and later President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman as the mastermind for instructing to kill Huda.[8]
