King Living Furniture
King Living is a privately owned Australian furniture designer, manufacturer, and global retailer established in 1977 by David King and his mother, Gwen.[1] The company has showrooms across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, China, United Kingdom, and the United States and manufacturing operations in Australia, Thailand and China.[2][3][4]
David and Gwen King started off making simple foam chairs in their family home in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Australia. In 1981 King Living opened a flagship showroom in Annandale.[5][6]
In 1979, King Living introduced their first sofa designed with a steel frame and the patented Postureflex seating system, similar to the steel suspension system used in luxury European cars.[7][8][9]
King Living is best known for contemporary modular sofas, such as Delta, released in 1998 and Jasper, released in 2003, Australia's most awarded sofa. In 2017, King Living released the brand’s first outdoor collection that included Delta Outdoor.[10][11]
In 2005 the Delta Sofa became popular when it was selected to appear on Oprah Winfrey Show as part of a makeover of a New York apartment by famous interior designer Nate Berkus.[12]
