Gamblers (band)

Gamblers is an American rock band based in Long Island, New York.[1][2][3]

History

Gamblers was formed by Michael McManus, who serves as the bandleader, and Gary O'Keefe, who has since left the group.[4] With Gamblers, McManus and O'Keefe sought to incorporate hip-hop-style song construction into an indie-rock context.[4]

For the initial five years, Gamblers was primarily based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.[4] The band began recording their album in Manhattan, initially in Harlem and later in Chelsea, before completing the project in Brooklyn.[4] Consequently, Gamblers was identified as a Brooklyn band.[4]

During the initial years, Gamblers drew much of its inspiration from Long Island's complex social landscape, which McManus described as a place with a dark underbelly, including issues such as racism, organized crime, and the notorious Long Island serial killer case.[4]

Gamblers released their debut album, Small World, in 2020.[4]

Band members

The band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Michael McManus, lead guitarist James Usher and drummer Johnny Hoblin.[5]
