Fraysexuality

Fraysexuality (also less commonly known as ignotasexual) is the phenomenon of people who are sexually attracted to people they don't know, and the more they know a person, the less they are sexually attracted to them, and is a subsector of grey asexuality.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Characteristics

Attraction can disappear if an emotional connection develops.[7][5] In a way, the emergence of attraction in fraysexuality is conditioned almost exclusively to unknown people,[8][9][10] even feeling immediate attraction to them,[11][12] or people who they are not attached to.[13][14]

It's often described as the polar opposite of demisexuality.[15][16][4]

Etymology

The attribution of the term fray as sexuality is credited to Tumblr user edensmachine, an account that has been deactivated, and has existed since at least 2014.[17] The term fraysexual is probably a neologism from fray,[18] which means fighting, which could represent the lack or breaking of affective bonds in people fighting.[19][20]
