"Estrechez de corazón" is the second single from the album "Corazones" by the Chilean group Los Prisioneros. It premiered on Chilean radios in August 1990 and achieved enormous success. Since then, it has become one of the group's great anthems both in Chile and abroad.
The song
The song addresses the theme of immaturity within a romantic relationship. Apparently, the girl in the song doesn't fully commit, although the video provides many explanations about the meaning of this song.
In an interview, Miguel Tapia stated that this song is a pastiche of singers like Camilo Sesto.[1]
Versions
- The single version of the song is an edit that lasts 5:17 minutes. This version only appears on the 7-inch vinyl and on the album "Antología, su historia y sus éxitos."
- There is also a very little-known remix version that lasts 8:17 minutes, intended for a limited promotional distribution maxi single 12" vinyl, which contains the album version on one side (labeled as side "A"). Currently, it's a cult piece for collectors, DJs, and fans, as it's very difficult to obtain.
Video
It premiered on the musical program Sábado Taquilla on TVN on November 10, 1990. In the music video, directed by Cristián Galaz, Los Prisioneros appear with their provisional lineup following the surprising departure of guitarist Claudio Narea: Jorge González, Miguel Tapia, and Cecilia Aguayo.
It's a plot about love and heartbreak between a man and a woman, starring actors Manuel Peña and Lorena Ríos. The latter would later become an executive at TVN and the wife of Juan Harting (founder of Roos Film). According to the composer Cuti Aste, the blow Ríos receives from Peña is real.[2]
