Agios Nikolaos or Ais Nikolas (Greek: Άγιος Νικόλαος ή Άης Νικόλας) is a Neighbourhood, Quarter or Parish of the Municipality of Limassol.

Location

Agios Nikolaos is located to the north of Neapolis, to the west with Agios Nektarios, to the north and east with Chalkoutsa (Mesa Geitonia).

Population

In the middle of the 20th century Agios Nikolaos was one of the poorest areas in Limassol. Currently it has a substantial middle-class population and a mix of nationalities that align with the city’s average demographics. Residential development occurred mainly during the 1950s and 1960s.[1]

History

In 1865 the Cemetery of Agios Nikolaos was established. To the south of the cemetery there is the church of Agios Nikolaos that dates to the mid 20th century. In the mid 20th century some of the first worker's housing was established under mayor Ploutis Servas.[1][2]
