Adia Sowho is a Nigerian technology executive known for her roles in the technology sector in emerging markets.[1] She was known as the first female Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria; as role she departed in June 2024.[2]

Professional Life

Adia Sowho was the Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria, contributing to the launch of the company's 5G network.[3] She was Vice President of Growth and Managing Director for Nigeria at Migo (formerly Mines.io)[4], a digital credit company offering instant loans to Nigerians[5]. Before her time at Migo, Sowho was the Director of Digital Business at 9mobile (formerly Etisalat Nigeria)[6]. As the Chief Executive Officer of Thrive Agric[7], she led the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, facilitating a pre-series A funding round and increasing revenue.[8]

Education

Adia Sowho holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield[9] and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, with majors in Strategy, Analytical Consulting, Strategic Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.[10] She has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and consulting industries, with previous positions at The U.S. Cellular Corporation, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Etisalat Nigeria.[11]

Other Roles

Sowho is an angel investor and advisor, serving on the boards of Sankore Investments, Hover,[12] and others. She has engaged in public speaking, mentoring, and pro-bono advisory roles in the African tech ecosystem.[13]
