Chalisgaon ⓘ is third largest city and municipal council in Jalgaon district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located in the Khandesh division of the state. and is located about 100 km (62 mi) from Jalgaon and about 330 km (210 mi) from Maharashtra's capital Mumbai.
Geography
Chalisgaon is located at 20°28′N 75°01′E / 20.47°N 75.02°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 344 metres (1128 feet). Chalisgaon is located on the southwest of Jalgaon district. Chalisgaon lies on the confluence of Titur and Dongri rivers. The Girna river flows from the northern part of Chalisgaon Tehsil. Girna river is the major source of drinking water in Chalisgaon city. Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary is located on the southern part of Chalisgaon Tehsil and is a protected area of Maharashtra state, India. It lies in the Satmala and Ajantha hill ranges of the Western Ghats, and administratively is in Aurangabad District and Jalgaon District. The wildlife sanctuary was established in 1986 in an existing reserved forest area. Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves are the nearest tourism points of Chalisgaon.

Transport
Railway
Chalisgaon Junction Railway Station is the major railway station under Bhusawal railway division of the Central Railway zone. It is located on the Mumbai-Bhusawal section and has rail connectivity with major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Amritsar, Agra, Varanasi, Bhopal, Jammu, Nagpur, Pune, Nanded, Patna, Gorakhpur etc. There is a branch line of 56 km which connects Dhule with Chalisgaon. MEMU service is provided between Dhule and Chalisgaon 4 times in a day and a direct train (11011 and 11012) runs everyday between Dhule and Mumbai via Chalisgaon.
Road
Chalisgaon is located on National Highway 52 (old National Highway 211) and National Highway 753J. It makes Chalisgaon a major city between Dhule and Sambhajinagar. MSRTC buses are available for Nearby towns and villages and various cities such as Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Sambhajinagar, Jalgaon, Dhule, Beed, Tuljapur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara etc. and various private sleeper volvo buses runs to Pune, Surat, Ahmedabad and Indore.
