Act-On Software is a software-as-a-service product for marketing automation. The company is headquartered in Portland, Oregon and was founded in 2008, originally retailing its software exclusively through Cisco, which provided $2 million in funding.[1]

History

Act-On was founded in 2008 by Raghu Raghavan, who previously co-founded Responsys. Initially, the company sold its software exclusively through Cisco, which provided $2 million in funding. The company later developed its own sales team.

In 2011, Act-On raised $10 million in its third funding round and established a new location in Silicon Valley. The following year, the company raised an additional $16 million. By 2013, Act-On had grown to 140 employees.

In 2014, Act-On raised $42 million, the largest funding round in the Oregon technology market since the dot com bubble. The company expanded its executive team in 2015 and appointed Andy MacMillan as CEO, with founder Raghu Raghavan becoming CTO. In 2018, Kate Johnson replaced Andy MacMillan as CEO.

In 2019, Act-On raised another $4 million in funding. The company rebranded itself in 2020 to align with modern marketing needs. By 2023, Act-On reported $25.8 million in revenue and served 4,000 customers with approximately 200 employees.
