Achilleas Dimitriades (born 1961, Nicosia) is a Cypriot lawyer, who is one of the 12 candidates for President of Cyprus in the 2023 Cypriot presidential election.[1][2][3]

He is the son of Lellos Dimitriades, who served as Mayor of Nicosia and a Member of Parliament in the Nicosia Electoral District elected with the Patriotic Front.[4]

Professional career

From 2002 to 2006, Dimitriades was a member of the EU Network of Independent Experts on Fundamental Rights. From 2007 to 2009, he was the president of the Cyprus-American Business Association. Between 2015 and 2022, he served as President of the Human Rights Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.[citation needed] Since 2018, he has been the president of the Welfare Fund of the School for the Deaf.[1]

Political career

In February 2022, Dimitriades officially announced his independent candidacy for the 2023 Cypriot presidential election.[5]
