Scott Ellis Daon

Scott Ellis Daon works for Daon, Inc., an article you've edited in the past. This user is working hard to understand how to suggest edits, given they have a conflict of interest. I mention this to you in case you wish to review or add to the advice I've given over at User talk:Scott Ellis Daon or in case Scott suggests edits on the article's talk page and you see these suggestions. You are under absolutely no obligation to take any actions here at all, ignore this entirely if you wish! You are also under no obligations to agree with the advice I've been giving Scott on his talk page. --Yamla (talk) 21:12, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My only edits to that article were to fix cs1|2 template errors; otherwise no interest in the article. Your advice the the editor seem to be correct so no comment on that.

No problem, thanks for following up! --Yamla (talk) 21:44, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CS1 maint: url-status

If you're so concerned about userspace stuff not being allowed in that category, then please find and fix the userspace stuff that is in that category. CS1 stuff is not anything I know how to fix, so it isn't my responsibility to fix it — but the purpose of Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories is to concern itself with cleaning up reader-browsable mainspace content categories, not internal project maintenance categories whose categories are often template-generated and impossible to "fix", so it also isn't my responsibility to just let it sit on the report forever without being fixed either. So if userspace stuff isn't allowed in that category, then please find and fix the userspace stuff that is in that category, because it can't just stay in the cleanup report forever if nobody's fixing it but I'm not the one who can fix it. I'm not concerned about userspace stuff not being allowed in that category. I am concerned with drive-by edits that would mask user-space pages from the report that identifies that miscategorization. Adding {{polluted category}} to Category:CS1 maint: url-status did just that. cs1|2 very carefully limits categorization. On all error and maintenance category pages is a note that lists all of the namespaces that cs1|2 does not categorize.
Assuming that the Module:Citation/CS1 suite is working correctly, you will never see user-space pages in your Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories report unless someone manually placed a cs1|2 category wikilink in a user-space page. I suspicion that this is the case here and that suspicion is born out with this search which finds about 20 user-space pages that have manual cs1|2 category wikilinks (some of these may be commented out in some fashion – <nowiki>...</nowiki> or <!--...-->, etc).
I am also concerned about cs1|2 misbehaving. Bring me evidence of cs1|2 disobeying the do-not-categorize-in-this-name-space rule, and I will attend to it.
