Pyramid of the World Project

Pyramid of the World is an ambitious project initiated in August 2008 by Dr. Sherif Danish, an IT entrepreeur/consultant living in Cupertino, CA, USA. The purpose of the project is to build a new, time-defying physical pyramid that depicts all aspects of life in the early twenty first century. It is meant to be a museum for hundreds of future generations. Just like we have learned about the life of Ancient Egyptians through monuments, objects, artifacts, and inscriptions that they left us thousands of years ago, it is time to build a new milestone of human civilization that preserves for thousands of years a snapshot of our life today. The pyramid will be built in the context of a large resort that attracts visitors from around the world.

The major challenge of Pyramid of of the World is long-term preservation of the pyramid structure and its content. Another major challenge is the preservation of digital data stored in the Pyramid. It is believed that a global contest on preservation technologies with attractive prizes will bring invaluable knowledge to the project. It is also believed that guidance from prominent organizations such as UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and NCPTT (National Center for Preservation Technology and Training) can be very valuable.
