Page mover

I've been a member of the project for quite some time, and performed quite a few page moves over the years. I've requested and had approved a fair number as well (mostly uncontroversial ones, mind you). If asked about a need for this right, I suppose the only reason anyone needs this right is to save others who have it the time of having to process my requests, and add one more hand to incrementally speed up the processing of those of other users. I feel I've proved over my tenure that I can be trusted to handle this right ethically, so hopefully I will be approved. Dewelar (talk) 03:25, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would speed up the process for me. I have an old account that I forgot the password to (WikiImprovment78); combined with this account, I have made nearly 5000 edits since 2014 and made many move requests over this time. I am familiar with the guidelines also. IWI (chat) 19:21, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ImprovedWikiImprovment, what do you mean "speed up the process"? Primefac (talk) 20:32, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: i.e. instead of having to request a (uncontroversial) move, I can just do it immediately; "Cutting out the middle man" so to speak. IWI (chat) 20:46, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: I trust your judgement; is it a "decline" or a request for other administrators' input? IWI (chat) 21:14, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It means I'm on the fence and don't feel strongly enough to decline or accept your request. Thus, I'm mostly just giving my opinions for other admins. Primefac (talk) 21:22, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) I only see two moves by IWI of any type since July, both of which were of pages IWI created. I see one WP:RM proposed move, of the page now at Talk:2018 Leicester helicopter crash. I also don't feel any of their three recent RM/TR requests were truly non-controversial; Tied Test was reverted, I would have requested an RM for Birmingham city centre as capitalization of those articles is a mix currently, and Driver licence in Australia should probably be "driver licenses" - and IWI tried to do a copy-paste move there. I would recommend not granting this permission at this time. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:53, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not done due to the combination of the lack of convincing need, and concerns raised  Swarm  talk  00:31, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In the past two to three years I've been a lot more active, including doing more, generally uncontroversial page moves and participating in WP:RM discussions (mainly around naming convention moves for entertainment-related pages). I run into situations where the target for a move has a non-trivial history enough that the page mover rights would allow me to contribute more without having to bug other users. I'm interested in helping clean up as a result of changes to the election/referendum naming format which will require some round-robin moves but I also like to help deal with obvious page name errors and moving articles to comply with various existing naming conventions (e.g. WP:CANSTATION and WP:CANPLACE). If granted the right, I see myself mostly dealing with vandalism, obvious errors, round-robin moves, and recently created pages with title typos. I supervise student editor work for the Wiki Education Foundation. Frequently, I come across student work that has been prematurely moved to the mainspace. I move it back to their sandbox/draftify it, but then have to tag the resulting redirect as an R2. I am interested in this right so that I can cut out this extra step (creating redirects and tagging them for deletion) that creates more work for the community. I edit as a volunteer as the account User:Enwebb. Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:32, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Like User:Elysia (Wiki Ed) (above), I often find pages moved incorrectly by student that was either moved to mainspace prematurely, or that was moved mistakenly (most commonly because they forget to change the from User to Article). When this happens, I usually switch to my volunteer account, User:Guettarda, which has admin rights. It would be more convenient not to have to switch accounts, and it would be a lot more transparent.
