Page mover

I'm familiar with the guidelines regarding page titles and help close discussions at WP:RM. I sometimes encounter elapsed discussion and backlogs where there is a consensus for page to be moved, but also exists as a redirect to another page and cannot be moved ordinarily. I'd like to request for PM right in order to reduce such backlogs. ʍaɦʋɛօtʍ (talk) 13:48, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just an opinion, but the only time I this editor's name jumps at me is from a recent RM at Talk:John of Garland. They relisted a discussion that had unanimous support and had already been listed for two weeks. My suspicion is that because the supports weren't explicitly bolded they only skimmed the discussion rather than reading it fully, which is obviously less than ideal in someone who wants this userright to close RM discussions.

That said, every time I glance at this page the bar seems to be very low, so perhaps this error should not preclude Mahveotm from receiving this userright. Probably worth noting that another editor had also unnecessarily relisted the discussion and they have the page mover right. Jenks24 (talk) 14:24, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done I see enough experience in RMs that you get the basic criteria for moving a page and our naming guidelines. I concur with Jenks24 that you probably shouldn't have relisted that one, but we have plenty of page movers who don't understand that, and I don't see it as a reason to prevent getting the flag. Also worth noting, RMs do not require a quorum to move, but you may relist them if it seems likely to be controversial (I will personally almost always relist anything involving non-English names at least once, even with no comments). A big part of the page mover tool is being able to user discretion as to when moves should be done, both in the RM process and on your own. If you have any questions about it, you are free to ask at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:25, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
