Note on Halo 5 references

Hi, David. Just letting you know that you added two references, "waypoint-infinitynotes" and "gamesradar-infinityreleased", both to the same URL. I assume the latter was a mistake. —zziccardi (talk) 19:48, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Edward Drinker Cope

Every linked genus has its own Wikipedia page saying that it was named by Cope, so each link is its own "source." The list is not exhaustive, just me procrastinating today by going around Wikipedia seeing how many genera named by Cope I could find. I've never seen a list of animals named by Cope, and was curious how many famous taxa would be on it. I was planning to keep adding to the list until it was complete, but it looks like I'm not very welcome to!

EDIT: I have no interest in spending time adding a source for each genus, so go ahead an delete my edit.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.67.186.136 (talk) 22:44, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Klingons

Is there a particular reason you reverted my changes instead of placing a "citation needed" tag? A simple viewing of early TOS episodes or a simple Google search will show that I am not just making this up, even if an official source is not so easy to come by. After all, Gene Roddenberry's political motivations are present in the article with nothing to back them up, and this is much more easily verifiable than that. --Sm5574 (talk) 19:49, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Star Trek Generations, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bluescreen (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I count 6 keep, 4 delete, and comments on alternatives to deletion to retain history. Please explain your delete close, and why other alternatives were not considered.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  16:12, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Simply put, AfDs aren't votes. Arguments for deletion were more compelling and based in Wikipedia policies and guidelines than arguments to keep because it's interesting or informative. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 16:20, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. In the future (and now, possibly), please include a closing summary such as this, for everyone's benefit.   ~ Tom.Reding (talkdgaf)  16:47, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad the keep votes were vastly more descriptive than that. Valoem talk contrib 02:36, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brumby close

I apologize in advance, but I don't see the reason for your close to be delete when the arguments and numbers are not a clear delete. Please point me to your reasons because I am going to ask for a review of the close. Thanks in advance. Atsme📞📧 20:48, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

My reasons are listed in the close. Consensus is not counting heads, it's weighing arguments. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 22:17, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Input about article section for a character list

Hey David! It's been too long! So, my current emphasis has been on improving List of Alien characters, after I saved it from deletion. For putting it together, I have had smooth sailing with setting this on course for the first two films on the page, but Alien 3 has been- pardon my French- a real bitch. I've hit an absolute roadblock with the character Robert Morse, as I cannot find any sources that give him any special emphasis beyond, "Yeah, he was played by this guy," or, "The man was a dick". Tell me, even though he has a bit of an impact on story in the end, does he even belong on the list page? I want to keep as much information as possible, but it's apparent his character has no lasting impact, is not the subject of any analytical discussion and worst yet, the character will prevent the page from reaching FL status. Should I remove him? DARTHBOTTO talkcont 03:15, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'd appreciate your input for whenever you're back. But for now, I've removed the character from the list, as they apparently don't hold any cultural weight and their complete lack of sources are a hindrance to the list's FL potential. But yeah, let me know what you think when you're back. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 01:11, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"@DarthBotto: Sorry for the delay. I think it's mostly up to your discretion. For Characters of Halo we drew the line that the only characters who would get mentioned would be recurring characters, to cut down on the scope. I dunno if that would work in your case, but I also don't think every section needs real-world info. If you're covering the major characters for each film it'd probably be better to leave him in, unless you narrow the scope significantly. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 21:04, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Morse is a very peripheral character who doesn't display any note-worthy actions, save for the fact that he's the lone survivor of the protagonists. I mean, I can't really say he's notable with the plot summary alone. I have considered having the page be only for recurring characters, but the problem with that is it would only likely be ten characters seen more than once, with literally only three of them being something more than a photograph or body double, haha. Big problem, eh? My instinct is to cut out peripheral characters with little narrative or cultural impact and see what happens. It's kind of frustrating, as it feels like I'm trudging into unfamiliar territory, as the nature of the way characters exist in the Alien franchise is unique, where there's one big recurring player in each movie, along with almost equally important supporting characters who don't make it into the sequel and if they do, they're not really characters! The cover art used in this article is the lesser known UK version, or this cover. The official US cover looks like this: http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/rct3_pcusbox.jpg. Since the game was released in the United States (October 26, 2004) before Europe (November 3, 2004), I propose that the cover should be changed to the US version.
