Guidelines include account age at least 90 days old, at least 500 edits to mainspace, demonstrated knowledge of page quality control (usually shown through participation in processes such as WP:AFD, WP:CSD, WP:AFC reviewing, etc.), no blocks or 3RR violations in the past 6 months, and no indications of undisclosed paid editing. Applicants should show some evidence that they generally meet the guidelines, have a demonstrated need for the right, and that they have read and fully understood the tutorial at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Editors may want to consider WP:NPPSCHOOL before applying.

For the record, I also do work for the Wikimedia Foundation, but am obviously not seeking the rights for any work related purposes and would use this strictly in a volunteer capacity - I just wanted to be transparent about my non-volunteer connection. Upon receiving invite and reviewing tutorial, I feel like I can help with the new page backlog. I have interacted with many types of pages and have developed a few of my own. I have regularly found information that made me feel like there were some simple recommendations that could be made to the editor on the pages and have wondered about how pages are reviewed. I have used maintenance tags and am familiar with most of them from WikiProject cleanup or WikiProject Unreferenced articles. I also enjoy helping with orphaned articles.
