Request for undeletion

Hi Fastily, I noticed that you deleted User:Crb43 as it was 'misuse of Wikipedia as a web host'. The page was being prepared by a student as a live document and they would have integrated feedback to improve the article. Please could you restore the content, and I'll make sure it's moved to the user's sandbox. Thanks, Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 13:28, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Richard. Thanks for letting me know, I've restored the page. Regards, FASTILY 02:22, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) Hi Richard Nevell (WMUK). Just going to add that the page Fastily deleted was tagged by a different editor who probably wasn't aware that this was a page the student was working on as part of a class project. You might want to tell your students to do this kind of thing in their user sandboxes instead so as to avoid a further misunderstandings like this. User pages like this can be seen as being WP:FAKEARTICLEs, which is something that is technically not really in accordance with relevant Wikipeida policy for user pages. If the students are participating in a Wikipedia:Education program class, there is a special template (Template:Dashboard.wikiedu.org student editor) they can add to their user pages. Someitmes it's hard for editors to know they're dealing with a student editor and thus might mistakenly assume the worst. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:22, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Fastily, that's very much appreciated. I don't think there was anything on the userpage to indicate they were part of a classroom assignment, so no doubt the page looked odd without context. In future, we'll definitely be asking students to work in sandboxes rather than user pages (that point was made, but I think it might not have been clear enough). Thanks again for sorting this out and the advice :) Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 15:02, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I love the design of your userpage! It's clear, concise, and beautiful at the same time! Hope you don't mind that I've loosely based my user page on it 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 04:11, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, EpicPupper! Certainly, please feel free :) -FASTILY 04:39, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete request

Hi Fastily, I noticed you're somewhat active at the moment, I have an undelete request, I never saw the page before, so I don't know if it's worth actioning, but if you think the information is somewhat of a start, I like to see whats there. I guess theres a chance I might ask you to re-delete it and I'll start anew. Thanx for what you do. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 04:50, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

6th Florida Infantry

I wanted to create an article for the 6th Florida Infantry Regiment and received a note that you deleted it on 31 March 2020. Please let me know the back story on this (briefly). Thanks. For right now, I was planning to create a stub article based on data from: https://www.nps.gov/civilwar/search-battle-units-detail.htm?battleUnitCode=CFL0006RI and Battles & Leaders of the Civil War. Djmaschek (talk) 03:16, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Djmaschek. There's not much of a story, the author (and main contributor) the article requested its deletion. If you're asking me though, it's extremely verbose, and I'm not certain how much of this content is actually suitable for the encyclopedia. If you'd like to work on it, let me know and I can restore it for you. -FASTILY 03:30, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on what full protection for content disputes is for

Hello, can you clarify for me your explanation for declining my request for protection on Uranian? Twinkle offers a full protection option called Full protection / "Content dispute/edit warring (full)". The boilerplate language added to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Increase when that option is chosen from Twinkle reads "Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring ". But then your rationale for declining protection was "Declined – Content dispute"—in other words, you declined protection precisely because the situation did meet a criterion that Wikipedia provides for granting protection. You do see why this is confusing, don't you? By the way, in case it wasn't clear, I wasn't involved in the dispute and had nothing to contribute to it. It isn't as though I was one of the combattants and I was trying to use page protection as a tool to get my way. Largoplazo (talk) 21:24, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Largoplazo. At the time of your request, there had been no edits to Uranian for nearly 3 days. Page protection is only used to prevent immediate disruption. If disruption has ceased, then protection is not necessary, hence the decline. -FASTILY 00:11, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
