::Noted. But I've '''never''' got any warning that my editions has been wrong. The first warning I've got 31-th July this year, so how did I know that something was wrong? All the edits has been made in a good-will. I'm not a spamer - I'm author of one of the biggest encyclopedic websites related to butterflies. I wanted to share my knowledge and information with the other people sharing the same hobby - I don't think it's a crime. As I've said - I'll not add links anymore and in my personal opinion adding my domain to the black-list is unnecessary and inadequate to the offense.

Welcome!

Hello, Lepidoptera~plwiki, and welcome to Wikipedia.

solved, thank you very much :) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:36, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Garden carpet, seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 08:55, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please upload free images to Wikimedia Commons

Hi,

could you maybe upload your wonderful images to Wikimedia Commons instead, so that they could be used in articles? See Commons:First_steps on Wikimedia Commons.

Just adding a link to your website to as many articles as possible does not appear to be a good idea to me. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 09:04, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The external links you're adding to numerous articles

Why are you adding an external link to numerous amounts of articles and with a domain that matches your username? I assume that this is your website? This mass addition of that domain both quantifies original research as well as conflict of interest and these edits need to stop and your changes need to be removed...... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:16, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments - unfortunately I don't agree with you that my editions are some kind of advertising. Lepidoptera Mundi is the largest website related with butterflies and moths, it works a little bit like a Wikipedia allows users to add own images or information. The problem is that the links structure has been changed and most part of the existing links are wrong and has to be corrected. External link section on Wikipedia gave users a possibility to get more information about the selected subject. From my particular point of view - it's a valuable information and you shouldn't remove it. Also I would like to take your attention that part of my editions just make an alphabetical order with external links. It's much easier to find information if it's sorted. I've spent a lot of time trying to add some good (in my opionion) links - if you are going to remove/disable them - please let me know. I won't to waste my time anymore... And regarding to images - yes, I should do that but I still don't have enough time to do everything what I should ;-) I'm working in two companies in the same time and I've very limited resources for any other tasks..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lepidoptera~plwiki (talkcontribs) 09:57, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lepidoptera, why is your username exactly the same as the domain to the website that you're adding links to in a bunch of articles? Is this your website? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:56, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oshwah, yes it's my website. It's not a secret information - you can find it on my Wikipedia profile.I know the website link structure and I think I'm a proper person to share species information with the other buterfly focused people...The only one dubt I had it was a question if I should use website owner in links or not... I've found other resources like for example "Moths and Butterflies of Europe and North Africa" created by Paolo Mazzei, Daniel Morel, Raniero Panfili or "Lepidoptera and some other life forms" created by Markku Savela and finally decided to use the same syntax. Do you think it's wrong? And what about other Wikipedia contributors adding links to the species pages that uses the same schema? At this moment I've a dilema - to continue the process or not. From one perspective you can say that it's not good to add links for own website but from the other hand - my website is the largest website dedicated for butterflies, cited by big number of books and articles. I don't have ANY profits from the website because it's based on the same rules as Wikipedia: it's open and free. So I can't see any sense reason to remove all valuable for users information. It would be nice to hear yor opinion ~Lepidoptera~
Hey
Thank you for taking the time to explain the situation. However, your website does not appear to be free. "All rights reserved." and a "©" below all the images is not Wikipedia's spirit of freedom. See Wikipedia:Non-free_content, for example. The Wikipedia:Copyrights page describes the free license Wikipedia is using for its content.
If you want to freely license your own, self-created images, which I would be very happy about and which would definitely be very useful for the encyclopedia, then please upload them to Wikimedia Commons under a free license. Please do not continue, however, to make promotional edits for a non-free image site to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a free advertisement provider. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:57, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About minor edits

Hi again :) A slightly different topic, although it's also about the external links: The "minor edit" checkbox. In your last few contributions, you already seem to have noticed this, so I'm just leaving this default message for information. Feel free to delete it at any time, just as you may always freely delete anything on your talk page whenever you like to.

Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:59, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

About time required to upload images to Commons

Of course, adding 500 images to Wikimedia Commons with description and categories will normally take much longer than making 500 Wikipedia edits with external links.

However, there is a mass uploading tool called the "Commonist" (I'll link to it below) for users who are already used to the default upload process via the Upload Wizard.

My personal suggestion would be:

  • Try uploading some images on Wikimedia Commons via the Upload Wizard first. Add categories and a nice description, this can be tricky sometimes. Feel very free to add your website link to the copyright/attribution description of the images. The upload wizard will ask you for your name, and your name could be something like "My Name, mywebsite.example.com". This is absolutely fine.
  • Wait a week or two. Maybe wait a month. If people make changes to your image description page, check why they made these changes. They might have added categories. Keep their tips in mind.
  • As soon as you feel experienced enough to do a mass upload, have a look at: Commons:Commonist

I've uploaded 1000s of images that way, all with a free license, but none of them is as beautiful as the butterfiles you're photographing. We need your images! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:19, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Saturniidae, Aglia tau - male, ventral view

For creating a wonderful image of an Aglia tau and uploading it to Wikimedia Commons! I have added it to the article now, creating a gallery.

A belated welcome!

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Lepidoptera~plwiki. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:31, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' noticeboard: Notification

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. [...] I'm sorry - but I don't understand you at all :-( Few lines above You wrote that I should use "Minor change" option, not that I shouldn't add anything... Now you are trying to ban me - so I really don't understand why do you write something else that are you doing ? (Lepidoptera~plwiki (talk) 22:13, 1 August 2018 (UTC));[reply]

Hey Lepidoptera~plwiki. Sorry for any misunderstandings. I should probably not have collapsed the spam warning at the top; I did so as a courtesy for you because I was sure that you understand the problem now. However, I wonder what could be unclear about the following two messages, which are also still present above:

[...] This mass addition of that domain both quantifies original research as well as conflict of interest and these edits need to stop and your changes need to be removed...... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:16, 31 July 2018 (UTC)"

[...] Please do not continue, however, to make promotional edits for a non-free image site to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a free advertisement provider. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:57, 31 July 2018 (UTC)"

Also, why are you still using the "minor edit" checkbox if you honestly believe that this was our only complaint? Could you take a moment to explain, on the ANI page, why you believe that your recent edits do not conflict with everything that has been posted on your talk page so far? Thanks. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:33, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't spam external links

Information icon Hello, I'm SWL36. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Additional notification for different noticeboard
