- The Basque nationalist terrorist organization ETA detonates explosives at five gas stations outside of Madrid, Spain, injuring two police officers. The bombs exploded after an anonymous telephone call to the Gara newspaper beforehand, as is usual for the ETA, allowing for evacuation of the targetted areas.
- Ukraine's Supreme Court annuls the run-off vote of the disputed presidential election. The judges have declared that a new vote must be held by December 26.
